The 2023 season of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) came with lots of drama and exciting moments.
From Kebbi BSC winning their third title and becoming the first team in the league to retain the trophy to Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors smiling back to Nnewi with the silver medal.
The season produced some exciting statistics as captured by www.beachsoccer.ng below:
0: None of the five games which went into extra time produced a winner. They were all settled on penalties.
2: Two games produced the highest number of goals during the season. Nmanko Patigi BSC’s 8-6 win over Jigawa Golden Star BSC and Kada BSC’s 9-5 victory against Kebbi United BSC both produced 14 goals.
2: Two goalkeepers, Godwin Tale (Kebbi BSC) and Basorun Festus (Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors) kept clean sheets across the regular season and Super Final games.
2: Jigawa Golden Star BSC and Nmanko Patigi BSC finished the season with the least number of wins after two victories.
3: Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors’ 3-0 win against Kebbi United BSC produced the lowest number of goals during the season.
3: Kebbi BSC with three losses suffered the lowest number of setbacks at the end of the season.
5: Five games were decided after the third period after extra time. They are; Nmanko Patigi 2-2 Kada BSC, Kebbi BSC 2-2 Kada BSC, Anambra BSW 4-4 Kebbi BSC, Kebbi United BSC 3-3 Anambra BSW, and Kada BSC 4-4 Kebbi BSC.
5: Kebbi United BSC’s Sadiq Umar scored the highest number of goals in a single match during Kebbi BSC’s 6-5 win over their local rivals. He scored five goals during the game.
6: Six Super Finals games concluded the season with Kebbi BSC emerging as league winners in Kaduna state.
8: Nmanko Patigi BSC with eight losses had the highest number of defeats.
9: Champions, Kebbi BSC with nine wins ended the season with the highest number of wins after 13 games.
17: Kebbi United BSC’s Sadiq Umar ended the season as the highest goal scorer with 17 goals.
22: Kebbi BSC finished the regular season with the highest number of 22 points and added six to it during the Super Finals.
30: A total number of 30 games were played during the regular season of the league across two centres in Kebbi and Anambra states.
33: Nmanko Patigi BSC scored the lowest number of goals at the end of the season with 33 goals.
36: In all, 36 games were played across the regular season and Super Finals to decide the league winners.
38: Kebbi Fishers conceded the lowest number of goals across regular and Super Finals.
63: Kebbi United BSC chipped in 63 goals to end the season as the most vulnerable defence.
65: Kebbi BSC ended the season as the most potent attacking side after scoring 65 goals in 13 games.
