The 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) gets underway with three games at Filin Sukuwa, Sani Abacha Bye Pass, Birnin Kebbi on Monday, March 31.
What happened
The league opener between 2022 champions Kada BSC and Kebbi United BSC ended 10-2 in favor of the Kaduna-based side.
Mamman James and Dozie Frank gave Kada Stars a 2-0 lead before Abba Aliyu pulled a goal back for Kebbi United.
Tanko Emmanuel restored Kada’s two-goal lead in the first period while the team raced to an 8-1 lead in the third period from Emmanuel (brace), Hamza Abubakar, Sani Jibrin, and James.
Isyaka Atiku scored Kebbi United’s second goal in the third period as Nura Bello and Frank completed the rout.
The second match, which was played in the evening, saw Jigawa Golden Star securing a 4-3 win over returning Niger BSC.
Sodiq Balogun, Hamza Bagudu, Yahaya Kamilu, and Shamsi Dahiru converted for Jigawa Golden Star BSC while Abdullahi Atiye, Abdulazeez Manu, and Abdulazeez Nuhu pegged their opponents back with a goal apiece.
The last game of the opening matchday ended 4-4 between Ibom BSC and Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors.
Stanley Ekwo (brace), Chinweze Gabriel, and Emeka Ogbonna scored for the Nnewi-based side.
Uwana Aniete (brace), Uyo Aniefiok, and Efiong Eyo found the back of the net for Ibom BSC as both sides shared spoils after extra time.
Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors won the match 4-3 on penalties to get a point from their first game.
The league will continue with three more games on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
