The runners-up of the last edition have won the 2022 season of the Nigerian League, defeating Kebbi BSC to lift the trophy. Smart City retains its third position from last season.
Kada claim the title on the final day in Kebbi
The new league champion emerged on Sunday after a 7-5 victory over SmartCity BSC, rounding up their season campaign with a single defeat. The Kada boys required only one point in their last match to secure the season’s trophy.
Though their slim victory over Smart City didn’t come easy, as their opponent proved an equal match. But Dozie Frank ensured Kada BSC hung on to claim the title that just slipped from their fingers in 2021.
Kebbi beat Badagry to finish second
In the final league match of the season, the defending champions Kebbi Fishers defeated Badagry BSC by 7-4 goals to emerge as the 2nd runner-up of the 2022 season with 6 points having won 2 games and lost once in the final round of the league season at home.
All-Stars Celebrity Match
The final match-day of the season also featured All-Stars and Legends of the Nigerian Beach Soccer family, including Isiaka Olawale, Okemeri and former national team captain Victor Tale. The celebrity game saw the NBSL All-Stars side defeating the Kebbi State LOC team by 4-0. The League Coordinator; Mahmud Hadeija who is also the President of the African Beach Soccer Union opened the scoring chart for the NBSL All-Stars team, while Nasir Auwal secured a brace and Bashar Samaila scored before the final whistle.
