After winning their second league title, five players from Kebbi Fishers Beach Soccer Club (BSC) made the Team of the Season for the 2023 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) which was released on Monday.
Kebbi United BSC had three players while Nmanko Patigi and Kada BSC had two players each to complete the NBSL team of the season.
The first ever Team of the Season were closely selected by the Technical Study Group (TSG) of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League. The TSG used the performance based system and player’s individual value to their teams as part of the criteria to determine selection process.
Bashar Samaila’s tutored Kebbi Fishers side had two players from the starting five and three players from the substition bench in the team of the season.
Goalkeeper, Godwin Tale of Kebbi Fishers who made fantastic saves in key match situations and coordinated the defense to help his team concede the least number of goals during the season was voted as the top choice safe hands.
The defensive pair of Adams Taiwo (Kebbi BSC) and Hassan Abdullahi (Kebbi United BSC) who won the Most Valuable Player and the Rising Star Awards respectively were the two Generals selected to man the defense positions.
The duo Marshals of Adekunle Jamiu (Nmanko Patigi BSC) and Dozie Frank (Kada BSC) took the attacking positions.
The two players emerged as the top two leading goal scorers at the end of the season with Dozie clinching the top Goal Scorer Award for the second season in a row after scoring 16 goals.
Jamiu scored 11 goals for the Kwara State-based side.
On the substitutes bench, three players from Kebbi Fishers, Arome Isah, Hassan Muhammed, and Ekene Obi made the list.
Other players in the substitution position include Ogunlana Seun (Nmanko Patigi BSC), Victor Tale (Kada BSC), Usman Bello (Kebbi United BSC), and Hamza Manga (Kebbi United BSC).
Coach Bashar Samaila Aliyu who won the league title for the second time in 3 years emerged as the Coach of the season.
