Nigeria Beach Soccer Association Completes Coaching Course, Club Licensing, Media Parley Ahead Of 2023 League Season

About Twenty-Five (25) coaches participated in a two-day virtual coaching course which took place from April 13th to 14th in preparation for the third season of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL).

The course which was led by FIFA Beach Soccer Coaching Instructor, Marcelo Mendes from Brazil was organised by the Nigeria Beach Soccer Association (NBSA) to equip coaches with world-class knowledge of the laws of the game and modern coaching trends.

It was also organised to help raise the profile of Beach soccer in Nigeria and attract more interest and investment in the sport.

2-3 coaches per club participating in the 2023 Nigeria Beach Soccer League took part in the course after the conclusion of the club licensing program with a certificate of participation attached to the program.

Coaches representing Nmanko Patigi Beach Soccer Club (BSC), Kebbi BSC, Garden City BSC, Ibom Sports BSC, Kada BSC, Kogi Confluence BSC, Badagry Warriors BSC, Smart City BSC, Igbogbo Kingdom BSC, Niger BSC, Edo BSC, and Kwara BSC took part in the course.

After the conclusion of the course, team officials without coaching certificates will not be allowed to represent a club or seat on the bench of NBSL matches.

As the 2023 NBSL kicks off on Saturday, April 22, in Birnin Kebbi, world-class coaching, and tactical prowess are expected to be displayed given the knowledge acquired during the coaching course.

Moreso, a club licensing course also took place virtually via Zoom on April 12th and was led by certified training officer, Phoebe Kutamba, a member of the African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU) from Uganda.

The program aimed to build the capacity of club officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure their clubs meet the standards and requirements for the NBSL.

Two nominated officers from each club participated in the one-day program which will go a long way in ensuring that clubs taking part in the NBSL meet the required standards of the league to enhance the overall quality of the league.

Meanwhile, a media parley also took place on Sunday, April 16, virtually on Zoom with media practitioners discussing ways to project the league via diverse media platforms with NBSA executives.

NBSA Coordinator, Mahmud Hadejia spoke on the mandate of the Association.

He said: “The mandate of NBSA is to develop and promote the league as well as help various States set up structure. The association also has the mandate to create awareness for Beach soccer.

“The Round One of the 2023 NBSL will take place in Birnin Kebbi from April 22nd to 24th with teams’ arrival slated for Thursday, April 20th. There will be a press conference, technical session, and draw for the league on Friday, April 21, before the commencement of the league proper from Saturday.”

The media parley was aimed to plan ahead of the league with media practitioners to give the league the deserved publicity during the season.
