Holders, Kebbi Fishers BSC extended their unbeaten record to four after four games with a 6-5 win on penalties over host, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors as Round two of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) got underway in Nnewi, Anambra State on Thursday.
The Chairman of Anambra Beach Soccer Association, Prof Victor Madubuko declared the round opened at Moonshine Arena, Nnewi High School.
“I welcome all the teams to Anambra State with open arms. We also recognize the Coordinator of Nigeria Beach Soccer League. It is also a pleasure to have you here.
“To the board members, friends, fans, and all the players, on behalf of the Anambra State Beach Soccer Association, it is my pleasure to welcome you to this tournament.” He said.
Both sides (Anambra BSW and Kebbi Fishers) were not separated in regulation time as the game ended in a 4-4 draw after three periods and extra time.
Stanley Ekwo bagged a brace for Anambra BSW coupled with a goal each from goalkeeper, Chibuike Mbaraogu and Kennedy Obinna.
On the other hand, Taiwo Adams , Hassan Muhammad, Ekene Obi, and Hassan Abdullahi found the back of the net for Kebbi Fishers.
After the match, Prof Madubuko was presented with an award by the league for outstanding contribution in recognition of his unwavering commitment, exceptional leadership, and transformative influence on Beach soccer in Nigeria and beyond.
Madubuko’s passion, innovation, and tireless efforts have not only shaped beach soccer, but also inspired youth development and pursuit of sporting excellence in Africa.
The recognition celebrates his remarkable achievements and profound impact as a true visionary and ambassador of beach Soccer.

Meanwhile, Jigawa Golden Star BSC defeated Kebbi United BSC 3-0. Ibom BSC also recorded the same scoreline victory over Nmanko Patigi BSC.
Kada BSC beat Niger BSC 3-0.
Before the games kicked off, goalkeepers had their challenge with six of the eight goalies progressing to the next phase on Friday.
Round 2 of the 2025 NBSL continues with four games on Friday as teams seek to qualify for the Playoffs.
