Anambra Warriors Crowned 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League Champions

Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors have been crowned champions of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) after defeating Kebbi Fishers BSC 5–3 on penalties in a thrilling final at Jabi Lake Park, Abuja, on Sunday.

The encounter ended 3–3 after three periods and extra time, forcing a penalty shootout to decide the winner.

The Nnewi-based side took a 3–1 lead through Ekunjimi Eganosi, Peter Prosper, and Stanley Ekwo, but the defending champions, Kebbi Fishers BSC, rallied back with goals from Hassan Abdullahi, Taiwo Adams, and Hassan Muhammed to level the contest.

In the ensuing shootout, Anambra held their nerve to secure a famous victory — their first-ever NBSL title, ending Kebbi Fishers’ two-year reign as champions.

The result was Kebbi Fishers BSC’s first loss of the season which ended nine games unbeaten streak.

Despite the defeat, Kebbi Fishers remain the most successful club in the league’s history with three titles, while Anambra join 2022 winners Kada BSC as one-time champions.

The grand finale was well attended by top dignitaries from Nigeria football ecosystem and the league sponsors as well as partners.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), NFF General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi (MON) and NFF Executive Member and Chairman, Beach Soccer and Futsal Committee, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Nse Udofor Essien were among tbe dignitaries who showed up at the exciting finale.

There were also Chief of Staff to the Chairman, National Sports Commission Mallam Salihu Abubakar, NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen, NFF Director of Media and Communications Dr Ademola Olajire, special assistant to NFF President Abubakar Danladi Umar and former FIFA referee Alex Mana.

Other dignitaries include Mr Sheyi Tinubu ably represented by Princess Atika Ajanah ED Projects, North-Central Development Commission, sponsors and Partners; Vento Mr Salim, Constrix Ibrahim and Abba Danmusa, Wacot Rice Limited General Manager, Dr Umar Muhammed, BAM Projects & Properties, Mr Sammie Yong, Jedo Investments Ltd, Aliyu Wamakko Oroji, Medicaid Cancer Foundation, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Football Association (FA), Femi Ajilore, Vinicius Football Academy, Jaiz Bank and Nigeria Volleyball Federation.

Earlier, Kada BSC defeated Kebbi United BSC 3-0 to win the third place match improving on 2024 fourth place finish.
