The Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) has honoured the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Dr Adewale Bashir Adeniyi (MFR), with an Outstanding Sports Contribution Award in recognition of his commitment to sports development and youth empowerment in Nigeria.
The award was presented by the National Coordinator of the NBSL, Mahmud Hadejia, alongside other league officials, on the sidelines of the Africa Cup of Nations in Marrakech, shortly after the Super Eagles’ 2–0 victory over Algeria.
According to the NBSL, the award initiative is aimed at identifying and celebrating individuals and institutions whose efforts have played a significant role in promoting sports and engaging young people across the country.
“If you follow the Nigeria Beach Soccer League, we consistently identify key individuals who have contributed immensely to the growth of sports and the development of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League,” Hadejia said while presenting the award.

Receiving the honour, Dr Adeniyi expressed his appreciation to the NBSL for the recognition and praised the league’s role in advancing grassroots sports. He also extended an invitation to the NBSL leadership for a formal visit to the Nigeria Customs Service National Headquarters in Abuja to explore areas of collaboration.
“I must thank the Nigeria Beach Soccer League for finding me worthy of this Outstanding Sports Contribution Award in Nigeria,” Adeniyi said. “It shows that people are paying attention to what we are doing for sports development across all sectors.
“I will be glad to have you and your team at our National Headquarters in Abuja for a proper deliberation on how we can support the Nigeria Beach Soccer League, especially considering the impressive work you and your team are doing.”
The NBSL also used the occasion to highlight recent milestones within the league, noting that the Season 5 Super Finals were successfully hosted in Abuja, with Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors emerging champions after defeating Kebbi Fishers in the final.
The recognition, the league said, underscores its commitment to strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders as it continues to drive the growth of beach soccer and youth-focused sports initiatives across Nigeria.
